Process for selecting a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada

Further to the 26 October 2015 announcement that Deputy Governor Agathe Côté will retire at the end of January 2016, the process to appoint her successor has been initiated. The Board of Directors has formed a selection committee to conduct the search and selection process, with the assistance of global executive recruiting firm Boyden.

Embrace automation and manage its side effects, says Senior Deputy Governor Wilkins

Automation, artificial intelligence and other innovations will benefit the Canadian economy by boosting productivity and living standards, but they could also have less desirable side effects on the labour market and income distribution that will have to be managed, Bank of Canada Senior Deputy Governor Carolyn A. Bank of Canada announces senior appointments in new internal structure

In order to hone its focus on a safe and sound financial system, reinforce research, and streamline management processes, the Bank of Canada has realigned responsibilities and made a series of senior appointments to lead its work in monetary policy, financial stability, management of the Government of Canada's funds, and Canadian bank notes.
