Regional offices

Offices across Canada (and in New York) strengthen national and international ties with industry, government, other organizations and associations, educational institutions and all Canadians.

Staff in our regional offices:

  • contribute to the Bank’s understanding of financial markets
  • conduct quarterly surveys to gather perspectives on business conditions and identify regional economic developments
  • promote public awareness of monetary policy and bank note security features
  • support local events of interest to the Bank

Calgary Regional Office

Our Calgary Regional Office is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including Chiniki, Bearpaw, and Wesley First Nations. The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.

Halifax Regional Office

Our Halifax Regional Office is located on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) people first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

Our Toronto Regional Office is located on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. Toronto is also covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
