Government of Canada Debt Distribution Framework Review Consultations
A consultation document pertaining to the design of the Government of Canada debt distribution framework, prepared jointly by the Department of Finance and the Bank of Canada, is being made public today.
The document seeks the views of Government Securities Distributors (GSD), institutional investors and other interested parties on the functioning of the Government of Canada (GoC) debt distribution framework (DDF) in light of the evolving regulatory and market landscape. The views gathered from these consultations will guide the Government in assessing the resilience of the current framework and identifying whether any potential adjustments should be contemplated to ensure that the framework continues to support the objectives of debt management.
Participants are strongly encouraged to email their written comments on the document by 27 April 2018. Comments should be addressed to DDFConsultations@bank-banque-canada.ca. Once the written comments have been analyzed, in-person and/or teleconference meetings will be conducted. A summary of the comments received from these consultations will be made available on the Bank of Canada’s website.
The Department of Finance and the Bank of Canada will maintain the confidentiality of all data they receive from third parties, except to the extent that the data may be public knowledge or in the event that the Department of Finance and the Bank are required by law (including the Access to Information Act) to release the data.
