It pays to check: Feel, Look, Tilt and Flip.
Remember, bank notes are only secure if you check them.
Polymer
Feel the smooth, unique texture of the note. It’s made from a single piece of polymer with some transparent areas.

Large window
Look at the detailed metallic images and symbols in and around the large transparent window. Check that they appear sharp and well defined.
Raised ink
Feel the raised ink on the front of the note in areas such as the portrait, the word “Canada” and the large number at the bottom.
Metallic elements
Tilt the note to see sharp colour changes in the metallic elements.
Flip the note to see the metallic elements inside the large window repeated in the same colours and detail on the other side.
Colour-shifting eagle feather
Look at the pattern in the eagle feather.
Tilt the note to see the pattern move up and down, and the colour shift from gold to green.
3D maple leaves
Look at the large maple leaf that appears to be raised.
Feel it to confirm that the surface is actually flat.
Transparent maple leaf
Look at the maple leaf on the right side of the transparent window. It is clear and feels slightly raised on the front of the note.
Maple leaves above the portrait
Look at the three maple leaves above the portrait. The largest leaf is a clear window.
Tilt the note to see that the shifting colours from the back of the note can be seen through the smallest leaf.
