Notes on treasury bill yields

Treasury bill auction – Average yields – 3 month

  • From 1934 to 1952, the rates are a monthly average of yields at tender.
  • From 1953 to 1960, the rates are average yields at Thursday tender following the last Wednesday of the month.
  • The first sale of treasury bills by public tender occurred March 1, 1934.
  • Since 1960, monthly series show values for the last Tuesday of the month.

  • From 1959 to 1960, the rates are average yields at Thursday tender following the last Wednesday of the month.
  • Since May 1959, 6-month treasury bills have regularly been sold by weekly public tender.
  • Since 1960, monthly series show values for the last Tuesday of the month.
