Market operations available to eligible GSDs

To support the continued effectiveness of the Bank’s operations to implement monetary policy, and to support market functioning and liquidity, GSDs that meet the eligibility requirements below can participate in the following market operations:

• Overnight Repo operations
• Overnight Reverse Repo operations
• 2-week Term Repo operations
• Overnight Standing Repo Facility
• Securities Lending Program

• No GSDs are currently eligible.

Eligibility requirements

GSD status alone does not provide automatic access to these operations. To be eligible, GSDs must be members of the Canadian Collateral Management Service tri-party platform, demonstrate and maintain sufficient market activity in Government of Canada primary, secondary and repo markets, and meet any other requirements as determined by the Bank. Eligibility is considered on request and remains subject to the Bank’s discretion and periodic review.
