OTTAWA, ONTARIO — The Bank of Canada is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of its scholarship awards for the Master Scholarship Award for Women in Economics and Finance. The Bank values the contributions of women in these fields and is committed to supporting their continued growth and success. This scholarship reflects the importance we place on empowering those who aspire to pursue advanced studies in economics and finance, and on encouraging them to explore careers connected to the Bank’s work.
The 2025‑26 award recipients are as follows:
- Irene Berezin, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Mathematics, with plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Economics at the University of British Columbia (Fall 2027).
- Ruhani Wali, who has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Toronto.
- Adriana Suuronen, who has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Economics and Public Policy at the University of Ottawa.
- Lucy Zeng, completing a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce at the University of Toronto.
- May Kelly Spurles, completing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Environmental Studies at Mount Allison University.
Recipients of the Master’s Scholarship Award for Women in Economics and Finance must have completed or be in the final two years of an undergraduate degree at a Canadian university and self-identify as a woman. In addition to the award of Can$10,000, successful candidates may be offered a work opportunity at the Bank, with mentorship by a Bank employee. The award is intended to assist the following students with pursuing their master’s in economics or finance.
