
Bio
Ben Sorensen is the Managing Director of Data and Digital Services (DDS) at the Bank of Canada. He leads a multidisciplinary team that delivers the Bank’s core data and digital capabilities—ranging from data technology, lifecycle management and governance to application development, publishing, and user experience. DDS plays a critical enabling role, helping business lines access the tools, information, and infrastructure they need to deliver on their mandates.
Since joining the Bank in 2012, Ben has held progressively senior roles across IT, HR, and procurement, giving him a broad view of how to bridge policy, operations, and technology. Prior to leading DDS, he served as a Senior Director in ITS, overseeing the analytics, corporate, and currency portfolios. He also brings delivery experience from the consulting sector, with past roles at Deloitte and PPI Consulting (now BDO).
Ben holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University. He was born in Kingston, Ontario.
