Summary of Comments - 2008/09 Debt Strategy Consultations

Today, a Summary of Comments on the Debt Strategy Consultations for 2008/09 is being published on the Bank of Canada's website in conjunction with the release of the government's Debt Management Strategy for 2008/09 on the Department of Finance's website.

In November 2007, officials from the Department of Finance and the Bank of Canada consulted with interested parties on issues relating to the design and operation of the Government of Canada domestic debt program for the fiscal year 2008/09 and beyond. Views were also requested on the functioning and liquidity of the fixed-income markets in light of market events since August 2007. To allow for comments from a broad range of participants, the 2008/09 Debt Strategy Consultation Document was made available on the Bank of Canada's website in November 2007. Comments received during these consultations were taken into consideration in developing the Debt Management Strategy for 2008/09.
