Expected change in financial situation, by view on timing of trade tension effects (double-weighted balance of opinion*)\n\n*Percentage of respondents expecting their financial situation to be better 12 months from now minus the percentage expecting their financial situation to be worse 12 months from now. Responses of much better off and much worse off are given twice the weight of responses of somewhat better off and somewhat worse off. The range of potential outcomes of this double-weighted balance of opinion is -200% to 200%. \r\nNote: Respondents were asked when they think the trade tensions between Canada and the United States had or will have the most serious effect on the economy or inflation. Among respondents in 2025Q4, 7% think the most serious effect of trade tensions on the economy or inflation was avoided, 27% think the most serious effect has already happened, 50% think the most serious effect is still to come, and 16% don\u0027t know or prefer not to answer.",
