Between renewals, our researchers study the effectiveness of the monetary policy framework and the experience of other central banks.
Speeches, research and consultations related to the 2021 renewal
In 2021, the Bank of Canada and the Government of Canada will renew their agreement on Canada’s inflation-control target. First signed in 1991, the agreement is renewed every five years. The periodic review of the agreement provides an opportunity for us to reframe our ongoing research and engage with stakeholders on the economy. Read about this work and tell us what you think. You can also consult information about previous agreements.
To help inform Canadians about the renewal process, Governing Council members speak publicly about the economy and issues related to the monetary policy framework.
