OTTAWA – On Wednesday, December 15 2021, Tiff Macklem, Governor of the Bank of Canada, will speak by videoconference before the Empire Club of Canada.

At 10:30 (ET), journalists are invited to review copies of the speech, under embargo, at the Bank’s head office in Ottawa. Please use the Bank of Canada Museum entrance, located at 30 Bank Street (corner of Bank and Wellington). Journalists are asked to bring photo ID and proof of full vaccination status.
For security reasons, journalists wishing to attend must confirm their presence by sending an email to , or by calling at 613‑782‑8782, before noon (ET) on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Those who have not registered will not be admitted to the lock-up.
Please note that the lock-up will take place under physical distancing and public-health guidelines. Therefore, attendance will be limited.
Accredited journalists that do not attend the lockup can also receive the speech under embargo upon request by contacting .
The embargo will be lifted at 12:00 (ET).

The Governor’s text will be available on the Bank’s website at 12:00 (ET).
- Media Availability
At approximately 13:15 (ET), the Governor will be available to answer questions from the media in the Bank of Canada’s auditorium.
