Payments Canada and the Bank of Canada have launched a call-for papers for their annual joint research symposium. The annual event, now in its sixth year, provides a forum to discuss research on innovations that are impacting and shaping the payments industry.

Presentation proposals and/or extended abstracts should be submitted to the following email address: research@payments.ca by August 20, 2019. The symposium will host a limited number of presentations and panels to allow ample time for discussion and questions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • The application of artificial intelligence, machine learning and quantum computing to payment systems
  • The impact of FinTech on payment systems
  • Modernization of payments and payments migration
  • Technological innovations in retail and wholesale payments
  • Management of clearing and settlement processes using new technologies
  • Fraud detection and cybersecurity in payment systems

Submissions should include a speaker bio and presentation details for consideration. The selection committee will select the accepted presentations by September 20, 2019.

The invitation-only event will take place in Ottawa on November 29, 2019. Questions about the call for papers can be addressed to research@payments.ca
