Preview of Viola Desmond exhibit at Bank of Canada Museum
OTTAWA — On Thursday, November 29, 2018, the Bank of Canada Museum will host a media preview of the new exhibition A Noteworthy Woman, dedicated to Viola Desmond, the first Canadian woman ever to be featured on a regular bank note. The exhibition includes rare and never-before-displayed artifacts from the life of Desmond, whose portrait appears on the new vertical $10 note that entered circulation on November 19. The exhibition also explores the other imagery on the new bank note, which celebrates Canada’s ongoing pursuit of human rights and social justice.

During the event, vertical $10 bank notes will be available on-site for purchase by members of the media in attendance (limit: one note per person). Only cash purchases will be accepted.
