This tool lets you search for specific CAN$/US$ exchange rate values 1. It can indicate when the rate was at a given level, when it changed by a given amount, and what the highest and lowest values were during a given period.

Rounding Option:
These series contain four decimal places (e.g., 0.8467.). However, people often think of exchange rates in terms of two decimal places. For example, it is common to say "The dollar closed at 85 cents", even though the actual rate was probably not 0.8500 — it was likely a little higher or lower.

To find "imprecise" matches of this kind:

  1. enter a value with two decimal places — for example, 0.85
  2. select the Round up/down option

This will return results that are close to the amount you have entered.

For example, these results were returned on 4 November 2005:

Important Note

Description:
This tool searches through four US exchange rate series.

US dollar (noon): as measured at noon
US dollar (close): as measured at the close of the day
US dollar (high): highest level during a given day ("intraday high"), from 08:00 (ET) to 16:00 (ET)
US dollar (low): lowest level during a given day ("intraday low"), from 08:00 (ET) to 16:00 (ET)

If you search for a specific level or change, you will see results returned for all four of these series. The high/low search returns results for the intraday high and intraday low.
