    Bank of Canada to Release Monetary Policy Report

    OTTAWA – The Bank of Canada’s Monetary Policy Report will be released on Wednesday, 20 July 2011.

    Lock-up

    At 7:30 (ET), journalists are invited to review the Report, under embargo, at the Bank’s head office in Ottawa and at the regional offices in Toronto (150 King Street West, Suite 2000) and Montréal (1501 McGill College Avenue, Suite 2030). Please be sure to have your press card with you. For security reasons, those wishing to attend must confirm by calling Jeremy Harrison at 613 782-8782 before noon on Tuesday, 19 July.

    At 9:00 (ET), Senior Bank officers will provide background information and respond to questions on the contents of the Report. Journalists in Toronto and Montréal will be linked to the briefing by video conference. Information gathered at the session may be used freely in news reports and commentaries, provided it is not attributed to the Bank or its officers. Electronic recording is not permitted.

    At 10:30 (ET), the lock-up ends and the embargo is lifted.

    Distribution

    The Monetary Policy Report will be available at 10:30 (ET) on the Bank's website.

    Press Conference

    At 11:15 (ET) Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of Canada, will hold a press conference to discuss the contents of the Report at the National Press Theatre, 150 Wellington Street, Ottawa. He will be accompanied by Senior Deputy Governor Tiff Macklem.

    WebcastAudio and video webcasts of the press conference will be accessible from the Bank's website.

    Bank of Canada Interest Rate Announcement

    OTTAWA – On Tuesday, 19 July 2011, the Bank of Canada will announce its decision on the target for the overnight rate. A press release will provide a brief explanation of the decision.

    Lock-upAt 8:00 (ET), journalists are invited to review the press release, under embargo at the Bank’s head office in Ottawa. The embargo will be lifted at 9:00 (ET). (Please use the East Tower entrance at 245 Sparks Street and have your press card with you.)
