The Bank of Canada Celebrates Its 75th Anniversary

OTTAWA – On Thursday, 11 March 2010, the Bank of Canada will celebrate its 75th anniversary. To mark the occasion, several events have been planned.

Mark Carney, the Governor of the Bank of Canada, will speak via video conference to university students in economics faculties across Canada.

By All Accounts: 75 Years of Central Banking
A new exhibition by the Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada
The Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada will unveil By All Accounts: 75 Years of Central Banking.

This new exhibition will take a look at the Bank and its 75-year history from the perspective of outside observers–journalists, cartoonists, headline writers, economists, politicians, government-appointed commissions, and the Canadian public.

Members of the media will be invited to view the exhibition before its official public opening, and staff will be available to answer questions.

By All Accounts
Book 5 of the Souvenir Book Series
By All Accounts is the fifth and final book in the Bank's souvenir history series. This volume presents a portrait of the Bank from the perspective of outside observers, showing how Canadians have perceived the performance of their central bank over the decades through the eyes of those who monitor its work on the public's behalf.
