Peacekeeping scene

The Canadian Forces have played a pivotal role in United Nations and other peacekeeping missions to monitor ceasefires, observe troop withdrawals, and provide a buffer between opposing forces. Canadian peacekeeping efforts involve humanitarian aid, as well as an armed and unarmed military presence.

On the $10 note, Canada's peacekeeping forces are portrayed by a female air force officer. She is dressed in Canadian combat clothing with the air element blue beret.

Doves, the international symbol of peace, and a globe crowned with the words "Au service de la paix — In the service of peace" appear in the background to represent Canadian peacekeeping efforts around the world.
