Bonnie DuPont was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada in October 2006.
Born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Ms. DuPont holds a BSW (1976) from the University of Regina and an M.Ed. (1989) from the University of Calgary. In June 2008, Ms. DuPont received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Regina.
Ms. DuPont retired from Enbridge Inc. in January 2010, after 12 years as Group Vice President, Corporate Resources. She has spent 25 years as an executive in the energy and grain industries, responsible for human resources, labour relations, information technology, public affairs, and governance functions. Ms. DuPont is a former chair of CustomerWorks LP – a customer care organization, and a former director of the Canadian Wheat Board. Ms. DuPont is currently involved in a number of organizations: she is a director of Viterra Inc., a leading Canadian agri-business company, and serves on their Human Resources and Compensation Committee, while chairing their Safety, Health and Environment Committee. She joined the UTS Board of Directors in May 2008 and chairs the Governance, Compensation and Nominating Committee. She also serves on the Board of Governors of the University of Calgary, where she chairs the Human Resources and Governance Committee and serves on the Executive Committee. She is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a 2006 graduate of its Directors Education Program. Ms. DuPont is past president of the Calgary Petroleum Club. She also serves on the Calgary Stampede Compensation and Pension Committee.
