Filming and Photography Policy

Photography / Filming in the Garden Court

Visitors to the Currency Museum and members of the public are permitted to take photographs for personal use in the Bank of Canada's Garden Court. Larger groups, such as wedding photographs, must contact Public Affairs (613 782-8782) to obtain permission in advance, and must agree with the Bank's Rules of Use for the Garden Court. These rules include, but are not limited to:

• No individual or group may reserve the Garden to take photographs; all persons using the Garden for this reason does so acknowledging that they must share the space with other groups
• Individuals or groups must also agree not to interfere with the operation of the Museum; must not restrict movement about the Garden, block access to the Museum or restrict access to the Yap Stone (a part of the Museum's exhibit which is located in the garden)
• No confetti or other materials may be tossed about or left in the Garden;
• It is not permitted to walk into the Gardens or enter the water features; the stepping stones are for the use of the Bank's gardeners only.
• No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the Garden Court.
• No studio photography equipment is permitted, including standalone flashes and reflectors.

Members of the news media who wish to use the garden court as backdrop for news reports must also contact Public Affairs (613 782-8782) to obtain permission in advance.

The Bank of Canada does not permit commercial photography or filming in the Garden Court.

Members of the public are encouraged to enter into and use the Garden Court of the Bank of Canada during business hours or when the Museum is open.

People wishing to hold events or other activities (during or after hours) in the Garden Court must contact Public Affairs (613 782-8782) to obtain permission in advance.
